The Guardians at the Door

All of a sudden I could feel a huge ghastly shadow passing over me, which was so large that it completely blocked off the suns' rays. Perspiration began poring down my forehead and I could feel my nerves unraveling. I quickly turned around to face this horror. Standing in front of me was a monster of incredulous proportions. It left me reeling onto the ground. I was paralyzed with fear and was unable to move or talk. A gargantuan stood before me standing taller than the canyon's walls, looking half man and half lizard with green scaly skin covering its grotesque form. However it was not primitive. It was dressed like a colossal soldier, wearing huge black boots, an enormous metallic armor plate around its chest and skin tight trunks. Around its waist was a mammoth belt with a holster and stuck inside it was some sort of weapon. On top of its head was an immense helmet with a large metallic rod protruding upwards. Its slimy green head was gruesome with two huge fangs hanging from its lips and a long tongue that flickered like that of a serpent. It eyes were red and merciless. I remained on my back, staring upwards at the green behemoth who started laughing like a raving maniac. It echoed off the walls of the canyon. Its horrible effect snapped me out of my paralysis and I jumped to my feet, then began frantically sprinting down the beach. The giant started to laugh even louder as if my flight was useless. It left a sickening effect in my stomach, as I continued running across the sand. It remained where it was for a few more moments roaring with mirth, then it began chasing me, while still laughing. Its strides were of preposterous length. It took twenty of mine to equal one of its and every time it took a ponderous step the ground shook . It was upon me within a few seconds and it caused the ground to vibrate so violently that it knocked me off balance and I fell headlong onto the beach. The giant was now standing over me, still insanely laughing, while I laid on my back, staring upwards in horror. It had the same cruel look of the monster I meant that first night. It could sense the fear tearing at my heart and enjoyed it. Then it bent down and began slowly reaching for me. My senses reeled and I could feel myself weakening into a faint. Suddenly from the distant skies a horn blared. A sound that I heard once before. The giant quickly stood straight, forgetting completely about me and began intensely searching the skies. No longer was it laughing. It nervously took out the weapon in its holster that looked like some sort of gigantic gun. It continued searching the skies. The blaring of the horn was becoming louder and the giant's behavior was quickly changing. It no longer moved like a confident hunter . Fear was beginning to pulsate through its enormous bulk. Now it was becoming the hunted.
