About the Book

Having moved from the segregated South to the industrial North in the mid 40's Dixon learned very quickly that it's not right or wise to judge a person by the color of one's skin but rather by the content of one's character.

Through the kindness and generosity of one White Jewish family vistas were seen and doors were opened that made a lasting impression on this very young boy.

When he visited his grandparents in the South some years later Dixon was "subjected" to the ways of the South and took his place in history sitting in the back of the bus with other people of color.

In "Remembering The Old Days" Dixon goes back in time to a place that has memories for us all. This is a book for the entire family; a must read.

About the Author

After writing my first book "The Bridge" many readers asked "When is he going to write another one?" " I wanted to read more of the story because it took me back to another place and time." I also wanted to write another one because there was more to tell. There were things that I wanted to share about my mother, my family and those individuals who impacted my life during those formative years. We moved from a segregated South to an industrial North in Camden, New Jersey. In the mid 40's to early 50's, at an early age, I learned that it is important not to judge a person by the color of one's skin but by the content of one's character. And the concepts of self worth, self determination and self sacrifice are a necessary part of one's overall makeup. I now live in Parkersburg, W. Va. with my dear wife Sally. If any of you friends ever want to share an experience or just drop me a line please do so. My address is 1010 17th st., Parkersburg, W.Va. 26101.
