About the Book
This is the true story of a young dog that was raised in a feral pack of over twelve dogs, living in dreadful conditions with little human contact.
When they were discovered they could not be approached. However, two of the smaller dogs were able to be caught with a catch pole. The remainder of the dogs were euthanised.
The two captured dogs were taken to a larger rescue centre where they remained for a month, but no one could do anything with them. A death sentence then hung over them. Christine was called upon to assess them. After spending time with them she knew that they would not be able to be re-homed in the normal way, but there was something about them that touched her deeply and she decided to take them into her home, in the hope that she could rehabilitate them.
So began a journey following the dog's rescue. Join Christine and share the joys, the heartaches and the highs and lows on this emotional roller coaster of events.
About the Author
I was born in England and moved to Banada in County Sligo, Ireland in 1998 with my husband Derek, and our two children, Derek Junior and Suzanne. We purchased an old secluded cottage together with six acres of land. My passion for dogs began when I was three years old and living with an aunt and uncle, who bred and showed Bedlington Terriers and Fox Terriors. Throughout my life I have always been involved with dogs, whilst at the same time pursuing, up to my early twenties, a career in nursing, both general and psychiatric. I then changed direction entirely to become a qualified driving instructor, running my own business for three years from the service station that Derek and I had in the UK. My careers have run alongside and complemented my present work, because each has enabled me to draw from experiences with so may different people and their individual needs, strengths and weaknesses. Now approaching my sixties, I am lucky enough to be able to work with people and their dogs on an individual basis, in the beauty of my home surroundings. I am a canine psychologist and dog trainer and have studied with the Canine behaviour Centre (UK), the Animal Care College (UK) and am a professional member of the Institute of Animal Care Professionals (USA). My hobbies are training and working with dogs, walking and writing.
