Global Warming

The year 2040 – Only two possibilities exist. One - We continued to fight over the existence and cause of global warming! With policies similar to the ones from the last 30 years you will see a sharp decline in the standard of living in this country. We will have taxed and regulated our industries and people to death. No jobs and no future. We will still depend on oil as our primary source of energy because we kept mandating cleaner gasoline vehicles instead of abandoning them. Our wealth will be gone because of a stupid continuation of buying foreign oil instead of pumping ours while continuing to increase government interference in our lives. With this approach our country will look more like Europe than America and we will be as insignificant as they are and socialism will have replaced the freedoms and prosperity we have had for two hundred years. Two - What if we started solving the real problem in 2008! Everything I will talk about in the next chapter could have been done in 1975! What I will try to demonstrate is that the technology needed has existed for 30 years or more. Or to put it bluntly very little research and “no new technology” is needed! A quote from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate change, which I found in a text book called “Earth Science” ninth edition by Edward J. Tarbuck and Frederick K. Lutgens Copyright 2000,1997 Prentice Hall; “Uncertainty does not mean that a nation or the world community cannot position itself better to cope with the broad range of possible climate changes or protect against potentially costly future outcomes. Delaying such measures may leave a nation or the world poorly prepared to deal with adverse changes and may increase the possibility of irreversible or very costly consequences. Options for adapting to change or mitigating change that can be justified for other reasons today (e.g., abatement of air and water pollution) and make society more flexible or resilient to anticipated adverse effects of climate change appear particularly desirable.”
