Anatomy of a Serial Killer

Book I The Body Prologue Drew Hunt opened his eyes to a white blurry world and forced himself to concentrate through the fog that clouded his mind. His head ached and the copper taste of blood filled his mouth as an intense pain in his chest labored his breathing. Realizing that the taste in his mouth was his own blood triggered a sudden wave of nausea, causing him to lose his lunch, or in this case, his last supper. ‘How long ago had that been?’ He thought, forcing himself to reason through the fog caused from the sedatives he had been given that still lingered. Realizing that he still tasted seasoning from the New York strip steak that he had at dinner that mingled with the copper taste that produced an acidic feeling his mouth. ‘Must not have been too long ago if I can still taste it.’ He reasoned. He became aware that he was sitting in a semi-reclined position, and was upright just enough so that he could tilt his head forward while he emptied the contents of his stomach. He gagged several times straining, choking and when he finished, he laid his head back and sucked in several deep cleansing breaths. When he went to wipe the vomit from his mouth, he realized that he could not move either of his hands; both were taped to the arms of the chair that he was in. There was no room to twist either arm. He strained and pulled but to no avail; both arms were secured from the wrist to the bend in his elbow. He tried his legs and discovered that both of them were secured from the ankles to his knees. His waist and chest were also bound to the chair with duct tape. He tried rocking the chair, but it felt heavy and bolted to the floor. He attempted to focus his eyes but his vision was obstructed by what he could only surmise was some type of gauze that had been layered around them to obscure his vision. All he could make out was shadows and that it appeared he was in a sterile, white room. Drew moved his head feeling a twinge of pain on the left side of his neck. A needle and surgical IV tube were secured there. It was at that moment he came fully awake, all senses afire, and realized he was a prisoner. Blinded Helpless “Me a prisoner?” The anger rose in his throat making the acid sensation his mouth stronger. He felt there was only one thing he could do. He panicked. Thrashing and yelling he fought against his restraints. "Help me!" he yelled. "Somebody help! Where am I!? Let me go……. " He fought for what seemed like an eternity until exhaustion and another fit of nausea forced him to try to calm down. His world spun in circles until his head fell back, breathing heavily, once again feeling anger and panic boiling up into his throat. "Somebody…..let me go… I didn’t do it!” Drew screamed, enraged, until his voice was raw. Exhausted, he entered in to the oblivion of unconsciousness.
