About the Book

Aaron Flowers, an avid hunter and woodsman living in the Grand Valley is persuaded to take an appointment as Territorial Marshal on the Western Slope. His extraordinary physical gifts along with his unequalled courage and self-reliance make him a tough lawman. Unfortunately, his aggressive nature and conservative code nearly get him in trouble.

Dealing swiftly and ruthlessly with killers and thugs earns him a controversial reputation. His boss, Judge Hanratty gives him a lot of leeway in subduing outlaws, but he sees it as approval to do whatever is necessary. When he gets called upon to help his friend rescue his woman who was kidnapped by a band of guerilla fighters, it proves to be the ultimate challenge.

About the Author

Richard A. Gavigan is a mid-westerner by birth, but a westerner by choice. Originally from Racine, Wisconsin, he likes to tell people that he was born late (1945), about a hundred years too late. He moved to Grand Junction, Colorado in 1988 and then moved to New Mexico and Virginia before returning to Colorado in 1999. Rich’s professional career has included being a trust officer, commercial lender, investment advisor, municipal judge, ski instructor and currently branch manager for a credit union. His hobbies have included the construction of a log cabin in the mountains, archery, raising three dogs (huskies), and he has an Arabian horse. He has hunted deer, elk, coyote, bear, buffalo and cougars. Cowboy weapons are a passion and shooting is a favorite pastime. His family includes his wife, Marcia, six children and nine grandchildren. The books he writes portray uniquely American characters possessed of courage and determination. Talking with and interviewing crazy old cowboys, listening to their yarns, and chronicling their exploits has been a source of inspiration to him. The setting for all of his books is the arid high desert and mountains of Colorado’s Western Slope in the 1860’s. It is a region of unsurpassed beauty that he loves and calls home.
