About the Book

As a teenager in southeast Texas in 1946, Wes was able to participate in a small cattle drive riding his dad's mule, Jackson. Thus began a journey that would continue the rest of his life, as he grew and matured buying, selling and training mules and horses. His journey included making the rodeo circuit for awhile, specilizing in steer wrestling and saddle bronc riding. Along the way he made some wonderful friends and had some wonderful four-footed companions. Today, he is enjoying his senior years at his home in east Texas reliving some of the wonderful and exciting memories and grateful for the chance to live his life with mules and horses.

About the Author

If you like to sit around the campfire and swap horse and mule and rodeo stories, you will enjoy this book. It's a collection of stories put together by Wes as he looks back over his life as a young man growing up in the 1930's and 1940's in southeast Texas. He wanted the stories preserved for future "mulemen" and cowboys. There are no illustrations, but some fun and often humorous tales about working with horses and mules and meeting some wonderful and interesting people along the way. Some are rea and some are fictional, but all are interesting and from the heart. If you've had experiences with horses and/or mules you will appreciate these tales.
