About the Book

Poet Dorothy J. Barnes was moved through her faith in God’s love to write inspirational poems. With poems such as “Abiding in God’s Presence,” “My Love,” and “That’s Why Father,” Barnes seeks to similarly inspire. The forty-six works in this collection speak of deep faith, love, and spiritual insight. Each selection sings with rhyme, as in “Being Thankful.” / I see the moon glowing at night, / And see the sunshine so very bright. / I rise with my health and my strength, / I can reach out for God at any length. / I see my children walking upright, / Knowing that we all have to endure this fight. / I think of how we are clothed and fed, / This only lets me know who is the head. / Celebrating both God’s love and the wonders of nature, Search Your Heart communicates Barnes’ deep religious faith, and serves to inspire, bless, and awaken the senses to spiritual insight.

About the Author

Dorothy J. Barnes grew up in Smithfield, North Carolina. She graduated from Smithfield-Selma High School and moved to Maryland where she resides today. Barnes gave her life to God and became born again; these poems are written from that experience. This is her debut book.
