About the Book

Grace is an East Coast ferret traveling west with her human parents. At a stop during a hike in South Dakota, a snake scares her mother who drops her. She wakes up in a hole surrounded by animals that look like her, only they have black feet.

Bonnie is one of the black-footed ferrets that finds Grace. She helps Grace look for her lost parents, but she does not know that Grace’s parents are humans. And Bonnie is scared of humans!

Along the way, they meet Kevin the Elder, a ferret who tells stories. They also try to avoid coyotes and eagles as they explore a prairie dog town in the badlands.

Will Grace find her parents? What will Bonnie do when she finds out they are human?

About the Author

The father-daughter team of Michael and Rianna Neal collaborate on the stories, lessons, details, and illustrations for the Courageous Critters Children’s Book series. Michael is the author, with substantial creative and editing help from Rianna. Rianna, also the illustrator, provides a unique visual perspective of the lives of our characters.
