About the Author
Dorothy Gross has been writing poetry since she was a teenager. Her fi rst poem, ‘Nature’s Lullaby,’ was written while she was a Junior at Haverford High School in Pennsylvania. Published then in the school quarterly, Pen and Ink, the poem has since been reworked and appears in its fi nal form in this book, as the poem ‘Adieu.’ Gross’s poetry has appeared in Maine Life Magazine, Bittersweet Magazine, and in Grits, as well as in the Advertiser Democrat, a weekly newspaper located in Norway, Maine. In addition to writing poetry, the author wrote articles for the Sun Journal, a regional newspaper located in Lewston, Maine. Her human interest and history articles have appeared in the Advertiser Democrat, The Bangor Daily News, and in Maine Life Magazine. Gross is a member of Th e Academy of American Poets, and her poem, ‘Th e Gem,’ was published in the anthology, “Dimensions of Thought,” in 1979.
