Slowly he stepped from his lodge and lifted his muscular arms. Adorned with his ceremonial headress, his strong handsome face reflected only eighteen summers. Over a hundred summers ago, he had been taken from the Mother Earth. The Great Spirit had called him while he was in battle and now, once again, awakened him. His long black hair hung freely down his back. His piercing dark eyes scanned the heavens. He wore a deerskin loincloth around his slim waist and a bear claw necklace his father had given him after his first hunt. He was the great and mighty leader of the Coushatta Clan, He was Flying Hawk. Flying Hawk's father was a wise and great chief, but the Great Spirit chose to take him at a young age, leaving Flying Hawk to lead his people. Due to his young age, he led under great adversity. But shortly all respected his ability. He led them in battle against the white man; then he fought alongside the white warrior they called Sam Houston in the year 1835. His bravery had been proven many times on the battlefield and his wisdom well known throughout his clan. While in battle in the early morning of his eighteenth year, the Great Spirit called him. He was called to this peaceful home in the heavens; but now the Great Spirit needed him for a journey back to the Mother Earth. As he thought of Mother Earth, a smile slowly came to his lips. He lifted his face and tried to remember how it felt to feel the sun's warmth or to walk on the earth and feel the wet grass beneath his feet. He touched his long hair, thinking of the wind spirit flowing through it. This made him shiver with pleasure.

About the Book
Flying Hawk, a young warrior from the 1800s, is summoned back to Mother Earth to accomplish what may seem like an impossible task: he must persuade humanity to return to its roots and appreciate the natural wonders of the world.
Traveling on top of a lightning bolt through the sky, Flying Hawk arrives. At first, he thinks the bustling vehicles are animals, but then he realizes that they actually contain humans just like him.
Despite his confusion, Flying Hawk finds his way around with the help of his spirit guide, a hawk, and his friend, a wolf. And he sees through their eyes as they visit the home of Tom Bigbee, a frustrated carpenter struggling to make ends meet.
If Flying Hawk has any hope of accomplishing the series of tasks that lie ahead, he must first prove that he can help Bigbee, who is thinking of selling the land that has been in his family for generations to a developer.
Despite many obstacles, it’s up to Flying Hawk and his friends to save what makes life really worth living in Our Earth—Our Future.
