“It’s strange to think how it all works,” Requiem persisted. “I mean, the largest things in the universe, the galaxies that take trillions of years to traverse, are formed by an incalculable number of enormous stars and gases. And the stars and gases are formed by trillions upon trillions upon trillions of the tiniest little particles in existence. And those tiny little atoms are the things that create the energy that fuels the universe and lights up our days and brings beauty to our nights. It’s humbling, isn’t it?”
“I suppose,” Emma said disinterested. “I’ve never really thought about it before.”
“Strangest of all are the paths these tiny particles take at every infinitesimal fraction of an instant. They are completely random, undeterminable and incalculable. They’re called random walks. Our universe, like the ocean, is in constant motion, but the motion is completely reliant on the incalculable random walks of trillions upon trillions upon trillions of tiny particles. With all this chaos, it makes you wonder how an organized moment exists at all. Even more shocking is that it’s amazing we can even predict the wind’s blow or the sun’s rise. Everything is so random. The universe is one gigantic vat of unpredictable chaos. The tiny superheated particles in those stars are just bouncing around in random paths determined by nothing at all. And the particles in plants and in our bodies, energized by the sun and vibrating incessantly and bouncing off one another, are the things that create us. So, in the end, that’s what we are! We are made of randomly walking particles like the sun and the stars and that nebula.“I wonder if our lives are the same way. I mean, maybe the things that happen to us are just unimaginably intense energized vibrations, bouncing off one another and creating lives that are random and unpredictable.”
“That doesn’t make much sense though,” Emma, who could really care less, opined with a shadowed grin. “If that’s true and our lives are just randomly bouncing around, how then could Günter Habsburg predict the future the way he did?”“I’m not sure,” Requiem mumbled in light of his disparaged theory.

About the Book
Time is running out. The world of man is on the verge of extinction caused by a mysterious occurrence known simply as “the Illness.” Emma Bright, a criminal investigator for the only remaining government on earth, embarks on mankind’s last criminal investigation with the hope of somehow linking the phony murder of history’s greatest prophet, Günter Habsburg, to the apocalypse.
However, there is one problem: “the Illness” has destroyed all the evidence that ever existed. In her journey to solve the riddle of “the Illness,” Emma unintentionally steps into a whirlwind of predictable randomness and eventually learns, not only the purpose of her own life, but the meaning of all life.
About the Author
Although he was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1982 during a terrible blizzard, Jeremiah Tenant was raised in sunny Florida where he earned a Bachelor's degree in American History from the University of Central Florida and a Juris Doctorate degree from Nova Southeastern University.
