About the Book

As a youth Brisbin Mindstorm did not think much about the world. His knowledge only extended as far as the grounds of his home in Derebond and insipid schoolwork. Then something changed in him.

Brisbin vows to set out on a journey to find the source of his desire to know more. Before he leaves, his father gives him a mysterious baton. This peculiar inheritance lends clarity. It enhances his prospect of knowledge and desire to quest. But what is it?

Brisbin departs on the adventure of a lifetime and after a time of deep reflection alone he finds a companion, Matthew Crimsonhood. Together they take many exciting paths. They soar in a trans-mountain gondola, sail turquoise seas with pirates, study with flamboyant professors at an ivy-draped college, and fly on articulate griffins. In all their adventures the two discover the true meaning of friendship, answers to complex questions about life, and their bond of common interest: finding truth.

As they search the adventurers realize the complexity and meaning of the baton are something that will take a long time to understand. However, they remain certain that the baton’s power has everything to do with their ultimate destination.
