About the Book

THE MISTS OF TIME is about the life, travels, and adventures of a young Welsh lass, Agnes Lane, and a Scottish lad, Benjamin MacKenzie. The story begins in 1741 in Wales and ends in Tennessee in the American Colonies in 1835. Agnes lives to be 105 years old.

Fourteen year old Agnes is orphaned when her beloved grandmother, a Scottish woman living in Wales, dies leaving Agnes in the clutches of a wicked Vicar whom she suspects had abused and eventually caused the death of another orphan girl, Kathleen Lewes.

Shortly after her grandmother’s funeral, Agnes, disguised as a lad, flees her native village in Wales to escape Vicar Craven. She begins a journey to Scotland where her godmother, Marta Frasier and her large family live. On her way up the west coast of Wales she meets a kindly merchant ship captain, Walter MacLean who seeing past her disguise takes her aboard his ship and delivers her into the arms of the MacKenzies who were in Glasgow to buy supplies for their village. Agnes encounters many adventures with the MacKenzies on the way to Kirkmichael, Scotland, a picturesque village in the Great Glen of Scotland.
