About the Author

My dream for this book began when I very young. I always loved to listen to my grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles tell stories about their lives or someone that they knew. You would no doubt find me on the floor beside them with a pencil and scribbler writing down some of what they were saying. I wrote little rhymming poems to my school pals, brothers ,sisters and mom and dad. As the years went by it became part of my life.I I knew in my inner being that some day I would write a book. As you thumb through the pages you will find stories and poems that will bring you both Joy and sorrow. I have based this book on true stories although through its pages I have weaved threads of fiction to help meld them together. I am happy to say that I have had five poems and a story published by the Poetry Institute Of Canada. I am married and had four children,two daughters and two sons. One son died at an early age and the others are married and living in Alberta and have blessed us with six wonderful grandchildren. After living in Alberta for twenty nine years my husband Laurence and I have moved back home to Newfoundland and now live in Appleton. My inspiration for this book began with my mom, dad, clergy and school teachers who taught me never to give up. Also my husband and children encouraged me, especially my eleven year old grandaughter Kailey who is a budding writer herself with two poems published. My biggest inspiration was from God who gave me the gift to put words together on paper. As I filled these pages I let my little light shine and humbly relayed my memories of times past.
