Chapter 9 Back on land those coming in from the water were abuzz with the account of the rare encounter. Many waited at the dock, waited for the hero of the day to come in with his Jet Ski. The Sheriff’s Dept. had a car respond to the dock to assist the Officer coming in with his prisoner. The rider of the ill-fated Jet Ski had given the Fish and Wildlife Officer a hard time after his rescue and was under arrest for multiple charges including the injury to the dolphin, reckless operating, and operating under the influence. As the Police boat neared the dock the crowd became loud and threatening, everyone wanted a piece of the wise guy who deliberately endangered the baby dolphin. As is usually the case in today’s electronic world, one of the people at the scene recorded the entire event from start to finish. Initially, this man wanted proof of the reckless operating to show to the authorities but now he had the story that would be run on the local news channels. Quietly, the individual was making his newsworthy footage available to someone on the other end of the line of his cell phone. Others in the crowd had their own conversations with editors of the different newspapers.
