ARE YOU WILLING TO PAY THE PRICE? II Chronicles 7:15 In order for a revival to take place, it must come from God and we must prepare ourselves. In 1904, a young ministerial student by the name of Evan Roberts began to sense that God was going to send a great revival to Wales. Roberts began to attend revival meetings at every opportunity and it was at one of these meetings that he himself was deeply moved by the Holy Spirit. This is what we need. We need to be moved by the Holy Spirit. As he prayed at the altar, he cried out to God, “Bend me, O Lord, bend me.” This was his way of saying; Lord I’m making a complete and total surrender to Your will. He soon returned to his home church with the intent to preach the message of revival, but his pastor was reluctant to allow him to speak. After all, he was just a ministerial student. In a compromise, the pastor announced that Roberts would be speaking following the regular prayer meeting and anyone who desired to stay was welcome to do so. Only seventeen stayed to hear him speak and most of them were teenagers and young adults. He spoke to that group for nearly two hours. He had four simple points that he was convinced were necessary in order for God to send a revival. Here are the four points: Confess all known sins to God. Deal with and get rid of any “doubtful” areas of your life. Be ready to obey the Holy Spirit instantly. Confess Christ publicly. When he finished speaking, all seventeen were at the altar on their knees, crying out to God. They prayed until two o’clock a.m. the next morning and it was the beginning of one of the greatest movements of God since the reformation. By the end of the week over sixty people were won to Christ and over the course of the next year and a half, revival swept through the nation of Wales. Over one million people were led to a saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. And, it started with one person being open and obedient to the voice of God.
