Photo of Exchange Hotel marked on back of original 1898. The town flag pole is also evident in the picture. Criccio Apartments are now erected on the site. The building was torn down within the last 30-40 years as I remember our church (Presbyterian) holding their annual Rummage Sale there for several years. My sons helped Ernestine Wygant sort and arrange the men's ties. In the 1930's and 40's it was McGowan's Hotel. My mom and dad, with friends, spent some pleasant evenings there having dinner. There was a bar there also, but my mom was not an embiber (honest). MLM

Author biography: MaryLou Mahan is the Town of Marlborough Historian, a position she has held for a number of years. Mahan enjoys searching for history in musty archives, libraries, old books, and newspapers and in the memories of those who have lived through it. She relishes sharing her findings with kindred spirits.
