The Wound Your pride is a thorn, And you impale yourself on It daily. The blood from that ancient Wound Runs down and nourishes the Ground. We dance the ruins, Where ego is old rock And sacrifices have been Made before it. I am burnt by old flame. The flame is the Eternal Wish; We serve it devout with Blind humility, Like a newborn lamb Scampering across the wet Grass at dawn. There is a new day coming. We lose our past when we kneel. The ground be praised, be it Stained with blood, And the fire remembered; And the lamb a Promise That someday we will return To our home.

About the Author
With a bachelor's degree in English Literature and Graduate work in creative writing at Oklahoma State University, I continue to delve into the mines of literature; since I have been able to read, the real world has most often been secondary to the realm of imagination. As a lyricist, I have written and recorded several albums, and, like my poetry and stories, the work encompasses world mythology, the archetypes of comparative religion, and literary themes from a broad spectrum of voracious and obsessive reading. From my home state of Oklahoma I peer through a telescope that magnifies the red dirt beneath my feet with the wide-eyed wonder of an ever curious youth allowed to plunder the library at the center of time, each book mirroring all the components of the universe. This is writing as obsession, negotiating through life like a character in a waking dream, awestruck by the adventure found in following to the end each and every string.
