About the Book
"Peace in the Midst of Pain" will take some of the mystery from the question of "Where is God when it hurts." These meditations were written as I attempted to discover God's place and purpose in my own pain resulting from fibromyalgia, degenerative disc disease, and degenerative joint disease. I have found the most sensible and meaningful answers in the Bible. "Peace in the Midst of Pain" is not my story, but God's.
About the Author
1. Arthritis, fibromyalgia, degenerative disc disease and degenerative joint disease are my constant companions. They effect every area of my life from my activities to my spirit. Each day I must choose whether to let my health problems control me or whether I will control them. I have looked to various sources to find peace, encouragement and reason. The best source of comfort and strength has been the Bible. 2. Through reading the Bible I have developed a collection of meditations that have been the result of my search for peace and meaning. This collection, called "Peace in the Midst of Pain", has turned into a Biblical perspective on pain and suffering. Due to my personality, I must look at all things through the eyeglasses of humor. I have learned to view my situation as having a very humorous side instead of tragic. I have chosen to write about pain from the perspective of one who has experienced it - not just studied it. 3. I live in Colorado with my husband, Ken. I graduated from Cedarville University with a B.A. degree. I love anything that has to do with words: writing, singing, playing Scrabble, and last but not least talking. I regularly teach Women's Bible Study Classes through my local church. I sing in the choir and am involved in Missions' activities. My six grandchildren are the joy of my life and get a lot of my time. In my "spare time" I sew, knit, and crochet to make gifts for the wonderful grandkids.
