From Storing Past, Present and Future in One Place When I asked my son recently to get something out for supper, he opened the refrigerator door and dropped to his kness. Looking over his shoulder, he said dramatically, "Cover me, Mom. I'm going in." On these expeditions into the far reaches of the refrigerator, he has begun taking the tone of an explorer setting out on a safari into unknown lands. I think it's his way of telling me our food storage problems are getting out of hand. The difficulty lies in the fact that, as the family budget balancer, I have a hard time throwing out what seems like perfectly recyclable food. I try to overcome the negative label of left-overs and call these containers of yesterday's meals planned-overs, but I doubt the name has taken away the second-use stigma for the rest of the family.
