Arianne had no choice but to walk towards him, for that was the only exit. As she walked past him, he gently pulled her aside. He spoke.
“Hello miss.”
His low voice possessed a blues like quality; it was if the two words he uttered were meant solely for me. Wanting to hear him speak once more I asked him his name.
“Blue Evans.”
“And yours?”
“Arianne.”
“Arianne is a beautiful name. It mirrors the lady.”
“Thank you.”
“Did you enjoy the show?” He asked.
“Yes.”
He gave a light smile and suddenly his expression turned serious.
“I know we don’t know one another and I don’t want to come off as an overly eager brother, but I would like to see you again. May I give you my phone number and leave the decision to you?”
I looked at this gorgeous man who is willing to let me think about calling him. It seemed like a win-win situation. He gave me one of his business cards.
“Do you have a way home?”
“My car is outside.”
“If it's all right I would like to walk you there.”
He sees my truck and he lets out a whistle.
“Nice ride.”
Blue opened the door and helped Arianne up. He said hello to Taylor who had a Ben Vereen grin on her face.
“Get home safely ladies.”
Taylor waited until Blue was out of hearing distance before cheering.
“Praises Be! The drought is over. Please tell me you gave him your phone number.”
I felt like teasing her, so I purposely changed the subject.
“What did you think about Jagger’s voice?”
“Boyfriend is the truth. He will be a star quicker and longer than those Spice chicks. Stop stalling as it is much too late for suspense.”
“Taylor, he gave me his number and I plan on calling him, so relax.”
Arianne dropped Taylor off at her boyfriend’s house before going home. As she dumped the contents of her purse on her bed, she noticed she didn’t see Blue’s business card. Arianne called Taylor and was directed to her voice mail. As Arianne pressed the truck’s alarm, Taylor’s name and number illuminated on her display. As Arianne picked up she could hear Ky in the background yelling.
What have you lost now?”
Taylor and Ky laughed but Arianne wasn't amused.
“Girl, I can't find his number.”
“Do you know his last name?”
“His last name is Evans.”
Taylor sang.
“Arianne and Blue sitting in a tree.”
“Taylor this is serious!”
“No it isn’t. First order of the night is to remain the calm creature that you are. Next step is to call directory assistance in the morning.”
“Suppose his number is unlisted?”
“What if it is listed? You won’t know if you don’t call.”
Taylor
I can’t believe Arianne. Well, yes I can. Girlfriend is always misplacing things. Keys, ATM cards, a real fine man’s phone number. Once she couldn’t remember where she parked at the mall. How can you lose a whole truck? Security drove her around the parking area until she found her vehicle. I hope she finds his number. They were checking each other out as if attraction was going out of style. Hopefully it is just a case of misplacement.
