From Labor and Delivery From the wards of maternity I look onto the sleeping city Onto this ocean of infinity In the depth of the night I drink the calm sea of light this golden carpet of power and might All is peace and quite A refuge for the prophet A velvety cloud for the poet But yet I know only too well That beneath lurks the fire of hell The choking bondage of a cursed spell Underworlds in constant turmoil Snakes winding their gruesome coil Volcanoes brewing their awesome boil Right now, in front of my eyes, a murder In front of my soul, a deadly rapture In front of my heart, rape and torture And I stand alone in the wards of maternity Waiting for the new life to join our eternity To sail out, brave and proud, on the Ocean of the City

About the Author
Leo Plouffe Jr was born and raised in Montreal, Canada. He completed his medical studies at McGill University and the Medical College of Georgia. His career has spanned basic and clinical research in academic and private research institutions. He now lives near New York City with his wife, also a physician.
