Give you me? Did I hear you correct? This poem is not a bitter reflection. Rather , it is an in-depth look at a phrase that a young man spoke without thinking. Then again, he may have given much thought to his proposition but unable to discern who he was approaching and that she would give such a statement substantial deliberation and moral evaluation, he still let the words come from his mouth. If even there was a desire to relish or be amused with his supposition, my spirit enveloped me. I could not even blush for a moment. There was no need to have discussion or look for any deeper thought. Feeling feisty, I wrote a response to the question. Give You, Me? Did I hear you correct? Are you asking what I suspect? Give You, Me? How? Emotionally, mentally or physically – my spirit doesn’t belong to any man, so that’s Out of the question. I look to the Holy Spirit & there lies my reflection- Am I offering precious parts of me without protection? Assurance of longevity - Or, are you even what I want? Is the capture a devastating disappointment from the hunt? I could say, I’m not my own to give, but that would be slightly incorrect – for I’ve Been given stewardship over this camp- What a responsibility – I sit & think- Are you or is anyone else capable of handling & protecting my fragile emotions – I think not! Can you conceive my sporadic inventions – will you support them or perceive them as a threat- Do you realize that my body is precious & rare – my satisfaction physically – are you Committed you providing with gentleness & care Are you aware that two bodies made flesh equals one? Will you rapture in my love, feel confident with your hold, then let me be liberty free- NO BONDAGE Give you, me? Do you know what you’re requested? More detailed than suggested – my categories of interest remain so varied – no burden will be carried- Give you, me? Did I hear you correct? Give you, me? About the Author
Ronnette Virginia Smith grew up in Middle America. She was spiritually influenced and by religion since early childhood. During college, she developed an earnest hunger for a relationship with Christ and began to pen her thoughts on paper. Her heart’s desire is to produce fruit of the spirit through the unique venue of poetry. Autumn is her first collection of poems.
