Merriam Webster's Collegiate Dictionary defines "mists" as
- Water in the form of particles floating, or falling in the atmosphere at or near the surface of the earth;
- Something that obscures understanding;
- a film before the eyes;
- a fine spray;
- a drink of liquor served over cracked ice.
Within these covers, I believe that you'll find a little bit of all of the above.
