Prologue June 9th, 1631 The torchlight reflected off eyes of molten silver. The woman made her way through the crowded hall, stealing from shadow to shadow. Her gaze remained on the men clustered in the darkest corner of the room. Men and women alike turned to watch as she passed, her hips swinging seductively. She licked her lips and cast coy looks from beneath lowered eyelashes. The majority of the room knew better than to impede her progress. Suddenly, a drunken earl stepped into her path, blocking her view of her goal. She stopped and slowly tipped her head back to meet the fool’s eyes. He guffawed and reached out to pet the wide expanse of bare flesh above her neckline. She coyly tipped her head to the side before reaching for his hand. The snap of his wrist was audible above the chamber music. She smiled at his pained screams as she calmly passed him and continued across the room. “Bellona.” Darwin smiled down at her with obvious adoration. Bellona smiled and raised her hand to his face. On her left hand was a large spot of blood, evidence of the earl’s messy break. “For you, my love.” The rest of The Twelve looked on as Darwin lapped the blood from her hand before placing a soft kiss on the inside of her wrist.

Who are you really?
If you’re Seear Moon, that question may be a bit more complicated than it once was.
Seear struggles through a difficult, but subdued existence until a different reality is suddenly thrust upon her. Seear Moon is the reincarnation of a vampire ruler. Not just any ruler, either. Bellona, the beloved of The Twelve. For hundreds of years, the name Bellona was feared by both humans and vampires alike. Now, it is carried by one very confused young woman.
First in dreams and strange events, then in the arrival of her principal followers, Seear is slowly maneuvered into the position she abandoned three centuries before. Bellona’s followers, known to others of their kind as simply The Twelve, withhold all details of Seear’s former life and death. As events culminate in the disappearance of a close family member, Seear must solve the puzzle of who she was and decide if her true place is with The Twelve.
About the Author
A native of the midwest, I've been writing short fiction in the fantasy and horror genres for a little over a decade. I tend to write about the dark things. I spend long periods of time daydreaming, also known as mentally scripting stories for later application to paper. I live in a college town about fifty miles south-east of Kansas City, Missouri. There, on a quiet street, is the place I share with two heathen animals. A cat, Orion Abraxes, and a dog, Cinnamon Winnifred Marie. They rule over my apartment while I am away, cooking four-course meals and trying on my shoes.
