About the Book

“By turns passionate, lyrical, poignant, inspirational, Malcolm Kirwan’s poems, to borrow from one of them, “paint the color of [his] soul on the canvas of [our] heart[s].”

Dr. Susan Wanlass
Professor of English, California State University, Sacramento

“Malcolm Kirwan’s poetry evokes something different and stirring in each reader - memories of home, familial relationships, reaching goals, searching for our purpose in life...and, most importantly, passion and love thoughts that move one to silent reflections.”

Davida Siwisa James
Author of “The South Africa of His Heart”

About the Author

Malcolm C. Kirwan, a native of the island nation of St. Kitts-Nevis in the West Indies, shares with us a very personal and reflective portrait into his consciousness with his poetry collection “My Reflections Painted with Verse.” His collection of poems, published under the title, “Painting My Reflections with Verse” reflects the reverberating echoes of his imagination in its encounters with the experiences and mysteries of life. These echoes have been captured in verse with the contemplations, explorations, dreams and reflections that paint the color of his thoughts and consciousness as he journeyed with his musings. This eclectic collection of poems and musical offerings are powerful proof that human beings, no matter what their calling in life, respond to the compelling power of the creative voice within them. Kirwan’s poems are, at once, pictures of our familial duty, of a deep-seated romantic side, our aspirations to develop ourselves, and of the ponderings we all share when considering our place on earth, the greater meaning of life and death and all that happens in between to shape our destiny. The collection spans over thirty years and reveals the heart of a man, proud of his West Indian heritage, with a yearning to paint the images of his world with verse. Kirwan, an alumnus of the University of the Virgin Islands and the University of Connecticut, is an avid tennis player, and numbers among his hobbies playing the keyboard, and reading for both enjoyment and professional development. He lives on St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, is the father of three children, and travels extensively for pleasure and recreation.
