About the Book

Kit is summoned to a vast Arizona ranch by Edwina, the grandmother who had disowned Kit’s mother. Edwina rules her Yaqui workers with an iron hand and perhaps witchcraft. A union organizer comes in to change that during rising conflict that keeps time with the ancient Easter celebrations.

About the Author

Jeanne Williams tutored adult literacy at the Yaqui village of Old Pascua in Tucson and became greatly interested by this enduring people who have retained so much of their culture after 500 years of oppression. Watching the ancient Deer Dance is a treasured privilege.
