Robert McKinley regretted taking the case from the moment he made the decision. As attached as he was to Jake Westfall, Robert was not prepared to accept the potential for losses to his team. The case starts off bad with a firefight at the airport, and goes downhill from there. Placing his team in extreme jeopardy is not how Robert likes to work, but in this case, as the body count grows, his options run out.

Re-uniting with agents from the CIA, FBI, and the Secret Service, Robert not only must save Jake from extinction, but he must rid the mid-west of a plague of drugs, stolen military weapons, and an insidious entrepreneur bent on making millions by exploiting otherwise innocuous militia units. Robert's efforts are further hampered by an old relationship painfully renewed.

Ride along with Jake as he uses a beautiful clairvoyant to clear his name, and with Robert's help, trap a deadly killer, ending his forty million dollar reign of terror. But remember that success has a price, and in this line of work, it can be very high.
