About the Book
A simple yet powerful story, 1854 Garrett Street chronicles the early years of a young boy whose family is uprooted from Boston to Dallas. Set against the colorful backdrop of this small-town city in the 1950s, this warm yet haunting novel depicts the many joys and agonies the family must face while it attempts to adapt to its new and sometimes hostile surroundings.
Dust storms, polio, water shortages and floods are not the only dangers with which this family must cope. A larger, more ominous threat lurks eerily in the background, one that permanently alters their lives forever.
