Gwen Faris has a handsome husband, a three-year-old autistic son, and an attractive home in suburban Long Island. And she has a new baby on the way. Why then, after phoning her sister Cathleen that the baby was coming, did she disappear?

When Cathleen arrives to care for little Derek, she finds the front door open and Derek alone. And Gwen, who had said she was in labor, has not called her doctor nor checked into a hospital.
