While this book is a novel, Transphase was in fact a real company, and Doug Ames its CEO. Transphase?s technology, system installations, regulatory confrontations, and antitrust case against the utilities are all essentially true.

Ames, an attorney, has now restarted Transphase. A Harvard graduate, he lives in Huntington Beach, California.
