About the Book

While I was writing this book, someone asked me what I wanted to get out of it. What did I hope to accomplish? The only thing I want is for everyone who reads this book to look into their own hearts and spirits to make sure they are living in a manner that is pleasing to God. We can only change ourselves, including the way we act and react to different situations. In writing this book, I am focusing on a number of issues that take place in a number of churches.

The decision to focus on leadership in the church within the first chapter was important to me because I found it very difficult to discuss personal issues and receive spiritual guidance from some of the leaders in the churches I have attended, without the possibility of others finding out my personal struggles. There are ministers who would discuss these issues at home with their spouses. I have attended church all my life; therefore, I am very familiar with God's love, forgiveness, mercy and faithfulness. But it is hard for someone who has never had a relationship with God to understand why certain things take place in society, if God loves us so much. Most individuals feel that once they are saved they have to live a perfect life; a life without mistakes. Having a spiritual leader who is grounded in God's understanding should let you know that you will make mistakes but God is a forgiving God. In Psalm 27 verse 11 David said, "Teach me your way, O Lord; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors." Salvation is about eternity and this life is just a journey we are taking in order to get to eternity.

About the Author

My name is Dr. Lisa Washington and I am a college instructor and family mediator. But most importantly I am a Christian who loves God very much and I am a Christian who makes mistakes. I decided to write this book because I wanted everyone who decides to read it to look in the mirror and really evaluate themselves from a spiritual standpoint. I did not write this book to judge individuals; however, I wrote it to help me cleanse my spiritual house and I hope that others will receive the same feeling of spiritual cleansing. God bless each and everyone of you and thank you for your support.

Peace and Blessings,
Dr. Lisa Washington
