About the Author

I was born in Nazi and Stalinist Roumania. After the end of these dictatorships and their series of oppressions, I was able to pursue my studies. earning a Law degree and achieving the career of a successful painter. In 1963, I became an American citizen, studied the History of Art at Columbia University in New York, went on to teach the history of modernist art at Vassar college and then for twenty years at the University of Virginia. After my retirement in 2001, I continued to live in Charlottesville, to expand my Picasso studies into the ignored horizon of his wartime cosmological meditations, while also exhibiting my own paintings at Les Yeux Du Monde gallery.
