A Petal at a Time

About the Book

The poems in this first, fresh collection, called A Petal at a Time, come in a variety of moods and modes. They have been inspired by emotions, incidents, and places that the poet, Preety Sengupta, has travelled to. And they are written in different styles-from prosodic meters to free verse formats. The sprinkling of names from her background in India gives some of the poems a pleasing intonation, and her penchant for the "English" spelling is charming. Her poems have appeared in Skylark, The Poet, PEN magazine, Indian Literature, etc., and her poem "Missing" was included in the Internet archives after the 9/11 tragedy.

About the Author

Preety Sengupta is a writer and a poet, who writes in English, Hindi, and in her mother tongue Gujarati. She has written over thirty books, has won many awards for her creative writing, and her work is included in many anthologies in India. She is also an avid traveler. She has been to all seven continents, including Antarctica, the Magnetic North Pole, and about 105 countries. She lives in New York.
