Canada Geese, catholic in nuture, flying overhead. enjoy their higher
power, honking good-naturedly, like passersby on Dodge Street, each
striving to take the lead.

The geese at Boy's Town,

Catholic in nature, like skydivers, drop down among the stalks and husks,
wings flapping, light as feathers, to feed on scattered corn, leftovers, fattening
against the cold.

The geese at Boy's Town,

enjoy their unposted sanctuary, safe from nature's hidden alarms,
safe from hunters' deadly aims, safe among us, passersby, pursuing our
day's rewards.

Dr. Ronald Fingerson, retired, completed thirty-two years in university library and information management: teaching, administration, and service. He has had a lifelong interest in writing and teaching writing: essays, research, fiction, and poetry.
