About the Book

Harley and Jared share everything. They share a school, teachers and parallel lives, but they are an unlikely pair. Harley grew up on "the other side" of town, and the only place where he was safe from the racism that defined the times. Jared was unaware of the prejudices that were all around him, until an unlikely friendship grew between the two. Supporting one another through the most tragic of circumstances, they are forced to grow up too soon. But they learn the true meaning of friendship, and the importance of trust in a time when inequality and hatred was not just the norm, but the law.
