About the Book

The book is a thoroughly researched work, investigating and explaining how Mohammad Ali Jinnah's vision of a secular and modern Pakistan never became a reality. It also provides a background as to how the freedom struggle for India turned out to be a divisive exercise between Hindus and Muslims. It throws light on the role of Gandhi ji in the Khilafat Movement 1919-1924, and its impact on the rise of communalism in the region.

The book also reflects the views of other prominent Muslim personalities who played a significant role in the politics of the era.

The author courageously exposes, how the ulema and their hidden supporters negatively influenced the constitution-making process in Pakistan right from day one. Author links the trends of yester years with what is apparent and visible in the Pakistan of today. The book is a must read for those who are interested in understanding the reasons behind the rise of religious extremism in the politics of South Asia.
