About the Author
I served in the Army from nineteen sixty-one through nineteen sixty-four. My work was with the Nike Hercules Atomic Warhead Missile as a computer operator. I trained at Fort Bliss, Texas and Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, then on to Franklin Lakes, New Jersey. Being from the south, I was stationed mostly with people from New York, Massachusetts and the northeast area.
A few of us have kept in touch for forty years and I cherish those friendships. As I remember those times in the Army, I realize just how important our job was during that time.
I am an Army veteran, a proud Army veteran. I have such great feelings for the soldiers today and in my poems I try, on the last line, for the reader, perhaps for a second, to feel the pain that the soldier and that all veterans go through.
I now live with my wife of thirty-eight years in Mooresville, N.C.
