About the Book

Mei Mei Chen has a story to tell: A story of a Chinese woman's unique journey; a tale of love and tragedy, of betrayal and redemption, of a journey where hope still counts, despite all of life's drawbacks.

April was a university professor in Shanghai, and her husband, David, the president of a law firm. Together they had an adorable, two-year old son. Their life seemed in order until she decided to go abroad to pursue her ambition.

Circumstances brought her to America. On the campus of the University of New Hampshire, she met Jason, who was adventurous and filled with a deep longing for the ocean. Two lonely people turned to each other for comfort and fell in love. Torn between passion and obligation, sacrifice and desire, April had a choice to make. What steps would she take that would reel her heart with ache and change her life in ways she had never expected?

In a New Hampshire setting, the story unfolds like a kaleidoscope and paints a vivid and compelling picture of April's life that stretched from her hometown, Shanghai, throughout Germany to several cities of United States, with backdrops of her extraordinary multicultural background.

About the Author

Born in Shanghai, China, Mei Mei Chen has also lived in Germany and the United States. She received her doctorate of German Literature from University of Regensburg, Germany. Her Dissertation Die Drei Spruenge des Wan-lun has been published with ?Peter Lang?, Germany. Chen now lives in St. Louis and this is her first novel.
