About the Book

Everybody in Mrs. Hamilton's fifth-grade class thinks Rafi is merely clumsy. But when he keeps coming to school with serious cuts and bruises, Hannah, one of his classmates, begins to suspect he is being physically abused by his stepfather. Through her friendship Hannah discovers the terrible truth and tries to rescue her new friend from further harm.

He teaches literature and creative writing at Sarah Lawrence College.
