About the Book

The terrorist attack September 11, 2001 took a great toll on our nation, on our colleagues, and on our children. People from all walks of life were jumping into lend a hand. All the while our children, feeling helpless, sit and listen to family members saying what they did or could do to help.

Children were hurt in this attack, probably more than any one of us. Our children at Highview Elementary realized this and kept asking what they could do to help these children get past this tragic part of their lives. One child stated that if he could, he would give everything he had to help just one child. Another child stated that she would pray for the children and nobody could stop her.

Our children at Highview not only wanted to give monetary items but some ideas on how these children could cope with their loss. This is how we decided to help. Our children put their hearts and personal experiences into this book. We designed this book to encourage and help the children of the tragedy cope with their loss.

About the Author

Highview elementary School is located in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. We have about 400 children in our building. When we heard of the tragedy on September 11th we were all very sad. It was hard for us to imagine what it would be like to lose family members. The children at Highview have collected money and have written messages to you to help you with your sadness and loss. Even though no one can take away your sadness, we hope that our messages will let you know that people everywhere care about you.
