About the Book

People aren't always who you think they are–sometimes you have to hide your love away. Sometimes you get to explore that for all the joy and heartache it can bring.

The main character, KayCee, wrapped herself in fantasies when she was young to cope with her parent's divorce. While very young, she met Sammy who she thinks will be her prince and she ignored the obstacle that was in the way. Mentally, she created an entire life with him.

This novel as a bildungsroman examines KayCee during her physical, mental and emotional development. Despite her propensity for escaping into fantasy, she hit reality head on. She met Vinnie whom she could not see his real self for his unconventional exterior. He was a talented blues/rock guitarist, singer and songwriter. This second young man won her heart, yet his problems sabotaged the relationship and she turned back to Sammy.

Through trial and error she discovered that life is more life the blues–which poses the problem and offers the solution–than a fairy tale. She learned to value what she wanted over what society or family may think best. She ended with a spiritual journey that prepares her to deal better with reality.

About the Author

Kitty Schooley won two recognition awards for songs from the Connecticut Songwriters Association which can be heard on The Best of C.S.A. Anthology, Vol. 6. She continues taking piano and voice lessons. She is a member of Connecticut Authors and Publishers Association and a contributor to CAPA's newsletter, The Authority.
