About the Book

This book is a love story about a woman who receives a kidney transplant late in life and passionately longs to meet the family generous and caring enough to allow their loved one to be an organ donor. It follows the heroine as she reflects upon her life—her first boyfriend, an unfulfilling marriage, and a passionate love affair. This book’s surprise climax reinforces for the reader that miracles still happen.

About the Author

In 1991, after being on dialysis for more than two years, Dorothy Lourie received a kidney transplant. At that point her passion became to make people aware of becoming an organ donor. Through her efforts she was able to have organ donor cards placed into independent pharmacies across New England. Then, after local TV coverage, she succeeded in having the Walgreen pharmacy place over 50,000 organ donor cards in their stores across the country. Dorothy planned and organized three successful auctions, and to date has raised over $200,000 for the National Kidney Foundation.

With her degree in interior design she has had a very successful career in that field, and at the age of 75 is still going strong. In August 2001 she happily celebrated the tenth anniversary of her kidney transplant.

Proceeds from this novella will be donated to the National Kidney Foundation. Dorothy truly believes in miracles, and she hopes her readers will, too.
