About the Author

Bruce L. Felknor was executive director of the Fair Campaign Practices Committee (1956-66). After teaching briefly at Hamilton College he joined Encyclopedia Britannica, where he was assistant to the proprietor, director of public information, and executive editor. His other books include Political Mischief, Treasury of Encyclopedia Britannica (with Clifton Fadiman), and U.S. Merchant Marine At War 1775-1945.
