About the Book
This is a World War II story of three American (OSS) officers sent on a secret and sensitive mission behind German lines. They parachute in the dead of night from a British bomber into an obscure corner of Hungary. The are to find and convince certain key figures in the Hungarian government to sever their alliance with Germany and surrender unconditionally to the Allies. Their mission is complicated by the bewildering deportment of the Hungarian villagers who find them first, the duplicity of a Hungarian general, the efficiency and cruelty of the Gestapo, and the wiles and whims of some beautiful Hungarian women.
