About the Book

Winds in My Sails contains a selection of poems written by a 78-year-old woman who explored the experiences of her life and selected what brought insight or pleasure to her. She shares her thoughts now in poetic form.

Ehrlich's poems are grouped into sections: "Our Natural World," "Memories," "Musings and Impressions," and "Closings." Her wonder at nature is clear as she writes about her environment in the mountains and the Florida coast, where she lives, and in other parts of the United States where she traveled. "Memories" includes intimate glimpses of her life growing up. Her reactions and thoughts about events taking place around her, in "Musings and Impressions," are provocative for anyone living in our culture. "Closings" includes Ehrlich's philosophy on end-of-life, a subject every human being must encounter.

About the Author

Carol H. Ehrlich earned her Ph.D. at the University of Denver in 1965. She taught at the University of Denver, Columbia University (NYC), and Colorado State University, then became a clinic director at the Children?s Hospital, Denver. She co-authored All Kinds of Love: Experiencing Hospice (Baywood Publishing Company, 1997).
