About the Book

A Year of Fun and Fantasy is a collection of whimsical poetry that will appeal to children ages eight years and up.

Joan Field, a grandmother who reflects on her own experiences to write poetry, inspires enjoyment and creativity in young minds as she tailors each poem to touch on the experiences and activities of childhood. Youngsters will be taken on a journey of creative expression that encourages an appreciation of nature, family, fantasy, and just plain silliness.

Field's amusing compilation includes animated verse about new and lucky sneakers, summer baseball games, playful rabbits, soft kitties, squiggly worms, and boring rainy days. The rainbow of ideas that are shared throughout this collection will surely persuade children to use poetry as a new way to share their own thoughts and experiences with others.

Parents and teachers alike will enjoy reading this beautifully illustrated compilation out loud to children. The verses and accompanying artwork will certainly inspire smiles among both the young and the not so young who remember the carefree days of their own childhoods.
