About the Book

Seen as a messenger of God by a disturbed youth, John Scrounge has actually such a dark vision of life that he retreats from the world as a librarian's assistant. Convinced by a series of encounters that he must be more of a monster than a man, Scrounge flees one night, arriving at the gate of Greymore Prison.

There he is found by a high-ranking guard who brings him home but soon finds his young daughter infatuated with the houseguest. Enraged by her wanton desire the guard sets off one incident after another-he not only releases a mysterious inmate from Greymore, but also reveals his own shocking past.

Companion of Breath is a fascinating tale, a story with a spellbinding climax, where characters are compelled forward by their worst flaws and ensnared by the cycle of their ways.
