Over 20,000 youth are released from the foster care system each year who have turned 18 and are no longer considered wards of the court. What happens to these children who have been shuttled from house to house but rarely find a home? This is their story portrayed by the mythical Li'l Gnome who seeks a home before aging out. With no family of his own to return to, Li'l Gnome will begin his adult life extremely disadvantaged but for his own resiliency. About the Author
Dr. Angela Aguirre Watts, a long-time educator and child advocate, earned her Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction.
Dr. Aguirre Watts lives in California and is the author of Living and Dying in the Ida B. Wells Housing Projects and Authentic Voices of Other Children?s Parents. Her interest is in the resilient child.
